"Birds Creek Beginnings"
Bird's Creek is located 4 miles northwest of Bancroft. Mr. Thomas French
operated a sawmill and a cheese factory at Bird's Lake near Bird's Creek
in the late 1800's. The blacksmith was Mr. James Best. The inhabitants
of the area then numbered around 50. The local school has been serving
the township since 1951.
